Kaori Fujishiro

Kaori Fujishiro, PhD, is a social epidemiologist at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Her research focuses on the dynamic interplay between sociodemographic characteristics, such as being an immigrant or racial/ethnic minority, and socioeconomic contexts manifested through work. In her recent publications, Dr. Fujishiro promotes an overarching framework that explicitly embraces the complexities of work, workplace, and society. She emphasizes the need for disentangling the meaning of work as a social determinant of health as she pursues ways to reduce health inequity.
