Dr. Lisa M. Bates is a faculty member in the Department of Epidemiology at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. She began her tenure at Columbia as a Robert Wood Johnson Health & Society Scholar in 2005. Dr. Bates is a social epidemiologist with a research portfolio that includes mixed methods studies in South Asia for over two decades. Current projects in Bangladesh and Pakistan focus on the intersections of gender and socioeconomic inequalities, intimate partner violence, common mental disorders, and child development, with an increasing focus on scalable intervention strategies.
