Claire E. Margerison is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She has an MPH and a PhD in epidemiology from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Margerison’s research focuses on racial and socioeconomic disparities in women’s health across the life-course and on assessing the influence of social and economic contexts and policies on health. She has received funding from the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute to support her work. Two current areas of research include examining the effects of the Affordable Care Act on preconception health and pregnancy outcomes and investigating disparities and trends in maternal morbidity and mortality due to substance use, self-harm, and violence in the post-partum period.
