Dr. Bruce Link is Distinguished Professor of Public Policy and Sociology, University of California Riverside and Professor Emeritus of Epidemiology and Sociomedical Sciences, Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University. Dr. Link’s interests are centered on topics in psychiatric and social epidemiology as they bear on policy issues. With Jo Phelan, he has advanced the theory of social conditions as fundamental causes of disease. He currently conducts research on the life course origins of health inequalities by race/ethnicity and socioeconomic status, consequences of social stigma for life chances among people who are subject to stigma, and evaluating intervention efforts aimed at reducing mental illness stigma in children attending middle school.
