Alexis Smith is a third-year doctoral student in the Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences department (BSHES) at Emory University. Before coming to Emory, she worked at the Equal Justice Initiative where she provided project and research support for EJI’s education and racial justice initiatives. Her current research interests include 1) understanding how historical and structural determinants of health inequities shape the health outcomes of Black women to 2) inform community-engaged and multilevel interventions that seek to reduce the burden of disease and repair harm wrought by unjust systems and policies.
